The Author & Artists

Peter Wynter BeePeter has been a lawyer for more than 20 years and is now Managing Director of a mining company.  As a teenager he started collecting prints of the Spy caricatures which had originally appeared in the ‘Men of the Day’ series in Vanity Fair (1869 to 1914), which logged the lives of eminent people of the time.  He long cherished a dream of producing a modern day version, something that, like Spy, he hopes will present a record of the times for generations to come and inspire others to greater things.

Peter's dream became a reality when, in 2003, Nick Higton arrived to work as a temp in his office. Peter found him drawing caricatures (instead of working!), the one thing that was needed to kick start the People of the Day books; Volume 1 was produced and subsequently published in 2004.

Lucy, Peter’s cousin, joined the team in 2006.  She is the person behind many of the brilliant caricature drawings in Volume 2, and all of those in Volumes 3 and 4.  Her cartoons and caricatures have appeared in many national newspapers and magazines.  She also worked as a journalist, following in the footsteps of her father, the late Kenneth Robinson (1925-1994), architect-turned-journalist, author and infamous radio broadcaster.
